As a lover of learning and a big reader throughout University, teaching was the right choice for Adrian who was asked by Mooroopna Secondary College to teach Physics, before completing his Diploma of Education. He started the next week as a permission to teach teacher while also completing his studies. During this role Adrian took on a number of leadership opportunities as well as winning the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award at the Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence presented by Julia Gillard. 

Adrian was later approached by the Department of Education to work for them in supporting innovation in schools. Through this project, alongside the President of Science Teachers Victoria, he worked to build Quantum Victoria from the ground up, a Centre that increases students’ participation in science and mathematics through a number of programs.

While working as the Director of Learning at Geelong College, Adrian completed a Master of Education (Leadership) at Monash University as well as making a start on his PhD with Deakin University. A key interest of his is researching what it is that individuals bring with them from their life experience that makes them highly effective teachers.

It was the well-rounded education that attracted Adrian to Mentone Grammar, he is constantly looking for ways to support the development of teachers and the next generation of leaders.

Outside of teaching, Adrian has a key interest in endurance sports and travelling. He has completed a number of half and full marathons and notes his favourite travels being to the foot hills of Mount Fuji, trekking through Nepal and working in the Borneo jungle with the Iban people.
