Classroom Teachers and Mentors
At Mentone Grammar we are well regarded for our approach to Mentoring in the classroom and beyond.
Eblana junior school students in Prep to Year 4 have a traditional classroom teacher who is the primary person responsible for the academic and pastoral care needs of each student.
In Bayview, each middle school student has a Mentor who they meet with every day. The Mentor will teach the student for two or more of their scheduled core subjects, for example Maths, English, Science or SOSE.
Frogmore senior students have a House Coordinator and each House has several House Mentors who are each responsible for supporting small groups of students.
Bayview Mentors and Frogmore House Coordinators are the key contacts for parents regarding their child's social, emotional and academic progress.
Mentors work together with all staff involved in the student's journey, including the support services team where required.
Mentoring is an entrenched part of the culture at Mentone Grammar; students and teachers build strong, mutually respectful relationships which enhance the learning journey, and student-student mentoring and staff-staff mentoring is also encouraged and embraced.
