RETURN TO SCHOOL

On Sunday 6 September, the Premier announced the ‘roadmap’ out of COVID-19 for Victoria and, whilst most of the stages are subject to the attainment of certain health benchmarks, the following summary is how it impacts the operation of the School:

  • For the remainder of this term our settings remain unchanged ie: all students are studying off site and we will continue to operate an Essential Services program in both the Early Learning Centre and Eblana
  • Holidays will commence on 19 September and go through to 11 October
  • On 7 October the GAT will be held at School under COVID safe conditions for students studying a Unit 3/4 VCE Program
  • VCE Trial Examinations will be undertaken commencing on 8 October. A schedule will be forwarded to students involved in this along with the COVID safe requirements associated with these trial exams
  • At the start of Term 4 (12 October) the Early Learning Centre, Foundation to Year 2 and Years 11 & 12 will resume on site learning. All other year levels will continue off site. An Essential Services program will continue to operate
  • As of 26 October, the Government is flagging a potential staged return to on site learning for all other levels including the possibility of some under-age sport reactivating

Mentone Grammar will ensure that effective academic and wellbeing programs are in place throughout this time. We will also continue to be informed by the experts and follow their advice ensuring the health and safety of our staff and students.

Contact with the School can be made via email: enquiry@mentonegrammar.net. We will continue to monitor this account closely and respond promptly.

We thank our Community for their ongoing support.

FAQs

An off-site learning environment means that students will continue their learning at home, not at school. Teachers will facilitate student learning using a combination of online and take-home resources and platforms. This commences from Period 1 on Monday 23 March and will continue through to the end of Term 1 on Friday 27 March.

Our off-site learning environment will conclude in line with the 9 June Return To School advice from the Victorian Government.

If your child is unwell or has had contact with any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, please do not send them to School.
Unwell symptoms include:
Fever
Cough
Sore throat
Shortness of breath
Runny nose
Sneezing
Vomiting

The School is currently conducting daily temperature checks to help monitor and protect our students, staff and Community.

Please notify the School of any confirmed COVID-19 student cases on enquiry@mentonegrammar.net and follow government health guidelines about seeking medical advice.

Bayside Aquatics Centre will be closed from the last session on Friday 20 March until further notice.

Please adhere to government travel restrictions and isolation protocols

The Performing Arts Department is now offering all private tuition, ensemble rehearsals and production rehearsals online from Monday 20 April 2020 (Week 2, Term 2) until we are back on site at Mentone Grammar.

Sessional music tutors will timetable students for lessons as normal, and students will be asked to let classroom teachers know in the chat section of their Microsoft Team class when they need to depart for their lesson (as they would on site at School).

Bayview, Greenways and Frogmore students will receive lessons via Microsoft Teams and Eblana parents will be contacted directly to connect with students via Microsoft Teams also.

Students are required at scheduled ensemble rehearsal times as normal. Production rehearsals have been limited to one per week (in replacement of two) for the next fortnight, until we are able to appropriately review the Calendar.

As we are conscious of the additional time that students are currently spending online, we have encouraged our staff to structure ensemble and production rehearsals to include some independent, screen-free work where possible.

Sports training remains postponed until further notice.

From COB on Friday 20 March, the Camp Australia service will cease until further notice. Holiday programs will not be offered while our campus is closed for public safety.

Mentone Grammar uniforms are available at Noone's Hampton retail store on Monday - Saturday. For store opening hours, please visit Noone.

The Mentone Grammar Campus store and the P&F Secondhand Uniform Shop are currently closed. We will inform you of opening dates.
