Recent Announcements

Thursday 14 May

Mentone Grammar is pleased to be reactivating some year levels with face-to-face learning opportunities as of Monday 25 May, in line with the Chief Health Officer’s guidelines.

Our Staff are taking a Professional Learning Day on Friday 22 May to enable a full cycle of classes the following week.

To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our students, our staff and our Community, the School is implementing strict and highly considered protocols. These include disbursement of entry points, mandatory temperature checks on arrival for all students, staff and visitors, intensive cleaning of the property, staggered arrival and departure times, social distancing across the campus, and classroom reconfiguration. Staff with medical overlays will not be required to attend School. Parents will not be able to access the School site. Any unwell students and staff are required to stay at home.

As always, Wellbeing is a key focus for the School and we are actively supporting our students and staff through Wellbeing programs and advice to aid their smooth return to School.

Families may choose to remain in an off-site learning environment at this time and will be resourced accordingly.

We’re very proud of our teachers, who have excelled in delivering off-site learning programs and we extend our thanks to our students and their families for their ongoing support.

Please note that Term Two will conclude on Friday 26 June and Term Three will commence on Tuesday 14 July.

We are pleased to share with you the Mentone Grammar Community Business Directory.

The directory features family businesses in our School Community that we can support with our patronage at this time.

While the current health crisis and social distancing restrictions are impacting local business, we do know the powerful and positive difference a supportive community can make.

Mentone Grammar’s Offsite Learning for Term 2 commenced at 8.30am, Tuesday April 14 2020. Given the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 in Australia, this arrangement will be in place until further notice. Our Offsite Learning Strategy combines online and offline teaching and learning experiences. There will be times when your child will be given explicit instruction and other times where they will undertake independent learning. This naturally looks different in different parts of our School. Please refer to our Offsite Learning Strategy document to see how this will work with your child, along with some helpful strategies to support your child as they learn from home.

We’re incredibly proud of and inspired by the unity and optimism of our Mentone Grammar students, parents, families, teachers and staff. We thank each of you for your contributions to maintaining productive learning habits for your happy, healthy high achievers.

Tuesday 7 April

The School Executive met online today to review the current situation around COVID-19 and make an informed decision for our School. As such, we have resolved to continue delivering the off-site (online) learning environment which we successfully trialed during the last week of Term 1. Our goal in responding to this pandemic has been to do our very best to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all our Community members and we believe that this decision in necessary in achieving this.

Support for parents and students
The School will continue to provide support to those parents who are ‘on the frontline’ of the health care industry and other essential services. If your child attended this program during the last week of Term 1 you will be contacted directly by Executive Assistant to the Principal, Amy Wilson, to see if you wish to continue with this support. Any other parents, in this category, who wish to be considered for this program should email Amy at

Most staff are now working off-site but a skeleton staff will be at the School each day. Please only come to the campus if the matter is urgent. Please make contact with the School using the email address We will monitor this account closely and respond promptly.

  • Term 2 will conclude on Friday, 26 June
  • Term 3 will commence on Tuesday, 14 July

The current health crisis and subsequent social distancing restrictions are having a large impact on family businesses. Some of our Mentone Grammar parents and alumni operate small to medium businesses in the local community, offering a range of products and services.

As we’ve consistently seen throughout this challenging start to the year, community is a powerful instrument of engagement and support. As such, the School is establishing a Mentone Grammar Community Business Register which will provide an index of family businesses that we can support with our patronage during this time.

Families can register their business details using the online form below:

We look forward to launching the Mentone Grammar Community Business Register to you soon.

An off-site learning environment means that students will continue their learning at home, not at school. Teachers will facilitate student learning using a combination of online and take-home resources and platforms. This commences from Period 1 on Monday 23 March and will continue through to the end of Term 1 on Friday 27 March.

Our off-site learning environment will conclude in line with the 9 June Return To School advice from the Victorian Government.

If your child is unwell or has had contact with any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, please do not send them to School.
Unwell symptoms include:
Sore throat
Shortness of breath
Runny nose

The School is currently conducting daily temperature checks to help monitor and protect our students, staff and Community.

Please notify the School of any confirmed COVID-19 student cases on and follow government health guidelines about seeking medical advice.

Bayside Aquatics Centre will be closed from the last session on Friday 20 March until further notice.

Please adhere to government travel restrictions and isolation protocols

The Performing Arts Department is now offering all private tuition, ensemble rehearsals and production rehearsals online from Monday 20 April 2020 (Week 2, Term 2) until we are back on site at Mentone Grammar.

Sessional music tutors will timetable students for lessons as normal, and students will be asked to let classroom teachers know in the chat section of their Microsoft Team class when they need to depart for their lesson (as they would on site at School).

Bayview, Greenways and Frogmore students will receive lessons via Microsoft Teams and Eblana parents will be contacted directly to connect with students via Microsoft Teams also.

Students are required at scheduled ensemble rehearsal times as normal. Production rehearsals have been limited to one per week (in replacement of two) for the next fortnight, until we are able to appropriately review the Calendar.

As we are conscious of the additional time that students are currently spending online, we have encouraged our staff to structure ensemble and production rehearsals to include some independent, screen-free work where possible.

Sports training remains postponed until further notice.

From COB on Friday 20 March, the Camp Australia service will cease until further notice. Holiday programs will not be offered while our campus is closed for public safety.

Mentone Grammar uniforms are available at Noone's Hampton retail store on Monday - Saturday. For store opening hours, please visit Noone.

The Mentone Grammar Campus store and the P&F Secondhand Uniform Shop are currently closed. We will inform you of opening dates.
