Specialist Learning Support
At Mentone Grammar, our Learning Enhancement team works closely with students, families, and teachers to support diverse learning needs.
We consider how a disability or learning difficulty may affect a student’s engagement with the curriculum and identify support options to help them participate fully and develop the skills they need to reach their potential academically and personally.
We offer a tiered and flexible support model that adjusts to meet each student’s changing needs. It can include collaboration with classroom teachers to implement adjustments, in-class support from Learning Support Officers (LSOs) or Learning Enhancement teachers, short-term targeted small group programs, or, for a small number of students with higher needs, occasional individualised support.
These supports are designed to build confidence, strengthen core skills, and foster independence, enabling students to engage with the curriculum alongside their peers.
Beyond academic support, the Learning Enhancement team encourages social connection, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging. Our staff work closely with classroom teachers and the Wellbeing team – including School Psychologists, House Coordinators, Heads of Campus, and Mentors – to provide a coordinated, holistic approach that supports each student’s academic and personal growth.
Learning Enhancement works with families and teachers to strengthen learning strategies, build resilience, and foster independence. We provide tailored support to help students in need confidently navigate challenges and thrive in our inclusive school community and beyond.
