Uniform Recycling

We have now completed the two-year transition to the ‘new’ Centenary Collection for the academic and core PE uniform, so all students should now be in the correct uniform.

Thank You for Recycling

Many thanks to everyone who took advantage of our three recycling days to sustainably dispose of old branded uniform. This program has now concluded for this year, but we will look to hold another recycling day in Term 2 2027 at the conclusion of the AGSV/APS Sport Uniform transition period.

Please do not bring any items for recycling to the P&F Shop or the School.

Thanks to your efforts we have diverted over 1.6 tonnes of textile waste from global landfills. Our ethical and sustainable partner, AFTER. will now transform the unwearable uniforms into new yarn.

What we can accept

While we’re proud to support families and promote sustainability, by prioritising material reuse and keeping uniforms out of landfill, this recycling service does come at a significant cost to the School. To manage this, we can only accept old branded uniform items (i.e. clothing with the School crest or name).

All other non-branded items (e.g. old shorts, pants and skirts) can be recycled via alternative channels (see below for options) or they remain as part of the ongoing uniform (e.g. school bags and rugby jumpers).

We can only accept the following MENTONE BRANDED items:

  • ✓  Blazers
  • ✓  Knitwear (with crest)
  • ✓  Shirts (with crest)
  • ✓  Ties
  • ✓  PE tops, shorts/trackpants, jumpers & jackets
  • ✓  House tops
  • ✓  Dresses & Tunics
  • ✓  Knitted scarves
  • ✓  Rugby tops*

*NOTE: Rugby tops remain as part of the uniform. However, The Shop is no longer accepting them as there are already a significant number of secondhand rugby tops in stock. As such, we will accept rugby tops as part of this recycling program for families who no longer require them.

How it works – easy as 1-2-3!

  1. On a designated recycling collection date, drive into the Bayview Carpark
(via Naples Road) and park your car.
  2. Bring your CLEAN branded items to our manned sorting station.
  3. Items will be verified and sorted accordingly.

Please don’t bring items for RECYCLING to the School or P&F Shop before this day as we are unable to store them.

What happens to the uniforms?

We’ve teamed up with After, an ethical and sustainable textile recycler who will transform unwearable uniforms into new yarn, reducing landfill and supporting a circular economy.
