Every year on 8 March, International Women’s Day is celebrated across the world. IWD marks an important call to action for accelerating gender equality, and is also a time to acknowledge the achievements of women, together with all those who are inspiring change, both globally and locally. In 2023, the IWD theme is #EmbraceEquity.

Recently Mal advised the Board that he will end his contracted tenure in December 2023. This will conclude 17 years of exemplary service as Principal, preceded by six years as Deputy Headmaster.

On 25 August 2022, Principal Mal Cater officially badged the Head Prefects for 2023. As a community, we join in congratulating Gemma Hollingsworth, Thomas O’Rourke, Zitong Ren, and Eliza Schmidt on their new appointment.

Mentone Grammar is a large, diverse community of over 1,900 students and 13,000 alumni. As part of our ongoing program of community engagement, we host a large number of events every year for our extended Community.

We also have Centenary event sponsorship opportunities for businesses within our Community to become a much-valued member of our Event Sponsor Register. As a sponsor, your business will have the opportunity to reach our extensive Community across the greater Bayside area and beyond via a variety of Mentone Grammar channels.

We are excited to announce that Oliver Moran (Class of 2021), Kerui H, and Enrico T (Year 12) all received top honours at the Premier’s VCE Awards ceremony on 20 July 2022 for their exceptional VCE results in 2021.

Mentone Grammar student, Claudia H (Year 11) has been turning heads in the track and field world with the Australian team recently recruiting her for the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA (15 – 24 July).

As we reach the midway point of this year, planning is well underway for our Centenary celebrations in 2023 as we embark on a year of special activities to commemorate this significant milestone with our School Community.

In 2023, our Centenary year, Mentone Grammar will launch two new Houses. We are delighted to announce that the Houses will be named CLARK and JOHNSTON.
